The Global Adventist Internet Network (GAiN) conference took place in Auckland, New Zealand, from July 8 to 11, bringing together nearly 600 delegates to explore how collaboration can strengthen the church's mission in a rapidly changing digital world. GAiN is part of the "Digital Mission Strategy Conference," held alongside the Hope TV Channel leadership meeting and the Adventist Tech Summit (ATS). This marked the first time in over thirty years that a General Conference event was hosted in the South Pacific; the opening ceremony welcomed guests with traditional Māori *pōwhiri* and *haka* performances.
The conference repeatedly emphasized that communication is not an end in itself, but a vital tool for advancing the mission. General Conference President Pastor Erton C. Köhler reminded attendees that "Seventh-day Adventist communication exists for the sake of the mission." Meanwhile, General Conference Treasurer Pastor Paul H. Douglas elaborated on the theme "Building Bridges," symbolizing connection and unity. Alyssa Truman, Director of Communication for the General Conference, explained the rebranding of GAiN, noting that while the mission remains unchanged, the tools and technologies continue to evolve. She commended the South Pacific Division as a "pillar division" that excels in media and innovation.
Delegates cherished the opportunity to build relationships and share strategies. Mr Papaol from Papua New Guinea viewed the event as divinely ordained, instilling confidence in emerging media ministries. Mr Philpott, representing Europe, commended the communication efforts in the South Pacific and highlighted the spirit of openness and collaboration that defines GAiN. The conference also focused on the "OneVoice27" global initiative, which aims to mobilize believers to jointly proclaim a message of hope in 2027.
The GAiN Global Conference highlights the importance of collaboration, innovation, and relationship-building; through contributions from around the world, it reaffirms that communication serves as a bridge—connecting communities, sharing hope, and advancing the Gospel mission.
