The guided tour of "Abram La Rue Cemetery and the History of Evangelism in Hong Kong" (the first group) ended successfully on October 25. In line with the "Spirit of Prophecy and Adventist Spiritual Heritage Promotion Day", a group of Bible Auditorium church young people, elders, and seniors (the oldest is over 90 years old) visited La Rue, the cemetery of the first SDA pioneer to preach in China. At the same time, they once passed the location where he once lived and estimated his year. A Chinese settlement I have been to (preaching to the Chinese).
From 1888, La Rue used the identity of a missionary to come to Hong Kong (he had come to Hong Kong many times in his previous sailing career) as the entry point, connecting to the social environment of Hong Kong at that time, making his missionary story more appealing.
Itinerary:
1. Take a tour bus from the Bible Auditorium to the Hong Kong cemetery, starting from the tombstone of La Lue, and reviewing his life in Hong Kong. (Abram La Rue is from California, USA. He was the first Literature evangelist to enter Asia for mission. He has traveled throughout Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Japan. )
2. Take a bus to Arsenal Street in Admiralty to look back at the approximate location of La Rue's residence in the past and get to know the environment of Hong Kong in the 19th century.
3. Finally, take the MTR from Admiralty to Sheung Wan to commemorate the signs of the plague in the past, and discuss the possible cause of La Lue's death at that time. In addition to understanding the environment faced by the missionaries who came to China back then, and look at the public health reforms in Hong Kong in the early days.
The guided tour of "Abram La Rue Cemetery and the History of Missionary work in Hong Kong" (the second group) ended successfully on November 8. Here, I would like to thank Sister Yingxin and Sister Xiuwen who provided English interpretation, Brother Qiu Jiahao and Pastor Ng who provided logistics support.
