On June 14 Sabbath, we joyfully celebrated the return of the Pioneer Memorial Church to its old site on Ventris Road in Happy Valley, coinciding with Father's Day. A Thanksgiving worship service was held for Father's Day, followed by a sharing session in the afternoon.
On that day, Pastor Heywood Cham, the president of Hong Kong-Macau Conference, delivered a sermon titled "The Glorious Temple" (based on Haggai 2:9), broadening everyone's spiritual perspective. The response song was "Glory to the Father." Additionally, there was joyful news immediately following the worship service, a baptism ceremony was held for Sister Zhang, where she publicly acknowledged Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, adding another member to the heavenly army. Hallelujah!
After the fellowship lunch, the afternoon began with the Cantonese version of "We Have This Hope," titled "We all diligently behold," which marked the opening of the Thanksgiving sharing session. Former pastors who had served at Pioneer Memorial Church, including Pastor Cheng, Pastor Chow, Pastor Yau, Pastor Ken Dai, and the current pastor, Pastor Sarah Cheung, shared their experiences and memories from their time at the church, reflecting on and giving thanks for God's great grace. The special song "I Love Being with You" expressed the church's heartfelt sentiments. At the end of the sharing session, Pastor Zhang, the executive secretary of Union Mission, led everyone in a dedication prayer, bringing a conclusion to the rich program of the day.
"As we face the future, we fear nothing," unless we "forget God’s past guidance and teachings" (from "Life Sketches of Ellen G. White" page 196).
May the Pioneer Memorial Church continue to unite as one, working together to win more souls for the Kingdom, bringing glory to the Father. Amen.
