MACAU—In a powerful testament to faith, perseverance, and answered prayers, Jesus “Jess” Cordova, once a devoted Roman Catholic, embraced baptism into the Seventh-day Adventist Church on July 11, 2026, at the Macau Filipino Church in Taipa.
For years, his wife Mary Cordova—herself a former Pentecostal turned Seventh-day Adventist—prayed earnestly for her husband and children to join her in her newfound faith.
While working in Macau, Mary’s prayers never ceased, her faith never wavered. God answered in a remarkable way.
When Jess visited his family in Macau, seeking spiritual growth and new opportunities, he began attending discipleship and Bible study sessions every Sunday with Pastor Maxwell Agunan.
Jess’s hunger for spiritual truth also led him to join midweek prayer meetings, Vesper services, and Sabbath worship whenever possible.
During counseling and Bible study, Jess shared a memorable reflection:"I observed that your church, which you are pastoring, is very welcoming, caring, and serving each other from leaders to members, compared to my former faith." Inspired by Mary’s steadfast support, the loving embrace of the church, and the gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit, Jess made the life-changing decision to be baptized.
Jess’s story is a living testimony to the enduring power of prayer, the faithfulness of God, and the miraculous transformation that comes from surrendering to the Holy Spirit.
