In particular, the historicity and miraculous accounts of the Pentateuch are often dismissed as "myths" or "stories." However, archaeology and the study of ancient civilizations have provided believers with new perspectives, helping us reaffirm the reliability of the Scriptures.

Taking advantage of the "Treasures of the Palace Museum" grand exhibition at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, this event serves as a timely opportunity to lead brothers and sisters into ancient Egyptian civilization to explore the intersection of faith and history.

Activity Content

The Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Departments of the Hong Kong-Macau Conference co-organized the "From Egyptian Artifacts to Bible Footprints" event. Held between March and April 2026, the initiative comprised 10 groups of 8–10 people each, with participants signing up through their respective local churches.

Under expert guidance, participants had the opportunity to view numerous national-level Egyptian treasures up close, including statues of Pharaohs and archaeological finds closely linked to biblical history. The guide, Brother Andy Choi (a PhD candidate in Religious Studies with a minor in Archaeology), utilized an accessible yet profound approach to lead the groups in re-examining biblical accounts through an archaeological lens, highlighting the correlations between these artifacts and the historical records of the Bible.

Faith Reflection

Through the exhibition and guided tours, participants gained a profound realization that the Bible is not an isolated religious text, but a historical witness deeply intertwined with ancient Near Eastern civilizations. This event served as a reminder that reason and faith are not in opposition; rather, archaeological discoveries can serve as a powerful confirmation of faith. Following the visit, brothers and sisters shared that they now possess a firmer confidence in the authenticity of the Bible and a greater desire to study the Scriptures more deeply.

Achievements and Significance

All ten group slots were fully booked, receiving an enthusiastic response.

Participants generally expressed that they gained a great deal from the experience, noting that their understanding of the Bible now carries much greater historical depth.

The activity sparked an increased interest in biblical archaeology among many.

Conclusion

"From Egyptian Artifacts to Bible Footprints" was not only a cultural journey but also a profound exploration of faith.
