Adventist Educators Channeling God-Given Tech

Over the past seven decades, Kowloon Sam Yuk Secondary School has adhered to the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s philosophy of holistic education, shaping its development strategies around the three dimensions of spirit, intellect, and body.

Recently, the school integrated a “data-first” approach—featuring the GeoBIM Lab and the Sam Yuk 3+ Innovative Learning Space—to prepare students with future-ready skills. Through cross-sector partnerships with industry leaders, the school has aligned its technical curriculum with Adventist educational principles, cultivating ethical innovation and servant leadership.

The school established the GeoBIM Lab by combining data with geographic information systems (GIS) and building information modeling (BIM), pioneering a new path forward in education. Since the 2019–2020 school year, the school has adopted a “data-first” strategy. The school gradually introduced GIS and BIM technology before officially incorporating them into the formal curriculum. It has since become the first secondary school in Hong Kong to offer such courses.

Kowloon Sam Yuk Secondary School has also adopted cross-sector collaboration as a strategy to ensure that curriculum stays relevant and expands students’ learning areas. With the support of professionals from the surveying and construction industries, the GeoBIM Lab has officially opened and been put into operation.

The school has also established the Sam Yuk 3+ Innovative Learning Space. Located on the fourth floor of the school, this brand-new learning environment operates under the mission “Learning for tomorrow, discover future today.” It integrates cutting-edge technologies—such as Green Tech, GeoAI, and BIM—with collaborative learning models. The space aims to equip students to tackle future challenges and nurture them into innovators for tomorrow’s society.

Believing that technology is a gift of divine wisdom, our educators are dedicated to guiding students to embrace the core value of loving one’s neighbor (Matthew 22:37–39). We inspire students to harness technology to solve real-world challenges, support vulnerable communities, and benefit society through meaningful applications in fields like health care and environmental sustainability.
