The next day's agenda
Agenda for the second day of December 14, 2025, At 8 o'clock in the morning, the organizing committee established the night before took the lead in holding a meeting to discuss and nominate the members of the Nominative Committee, the Certification Committee and the Planning Committee. The remaining representatives gathered in the Pioneer Memorial Church on the third floor one after another before 9 o'clock in the morning to participate in the conference.
The devotions that morning were shared by the Pastor Yuen of the Pioneer Memorial Hall and Ventria Residence. The theme was "Who will go?" ". Starting from the Hebrew word "Hineni" (which means "I am here"), Pastor Yuan pointed out that there are many characters in the Bible who responded to God's call with this sentence, and combined with their own life testimony, encourage the participants to respond when God calls: "Hineni, I am here.", Please send me! ", willing to accept and assume the mission entrusted by God.
Subsequently, the Organizing Committee submitted the list of members of the Nominative Committee, the Certification Committee and the Planning Committee to the Session Assembly and was approved. The meeting entered an important topic: it is recommended to change the term of service of the Hong Kong-Macao Conference from three years to five years. This proposal was put forward by the Executive Committee and the Rules Committee after many discussions. It is hoped that the term of service will be in line with the five-year term adopted by the General Conference and Chinese Union Mission, and it will also help administrative cooperation and the continuation and stability of ministry expansion.
During the discussion, a number of representatives spoke enthusiastically, discussing the advantages and disadvantages of three-year and five-year terms of service from different angles, including: longer terms of service help the planning and implementation of church ministry, some areas of SDA have already adopted a five-year term of service, and if there is a special need, there is also a mechanism to initiate discussions and adjustments., and encourage more representatives to express their opinions. After a round of full discussion, a total of 119 of the 160 representatives present (accounting for 74.4%) raised their cards in favor, exceeding the two-thirds threshold for approval, the bill was accepted, and the new term of service of the Hong Kong-Macao Conference was officially extended to five years.
After the bill was passed, the members of the nominative committee immediately left the conference venue and went to the conference room of the local conference to start a meeting; the Certification Committee also held a meeting in the Activities Hall of the Pioneer Memorial Church at the same time to deal with related matters.
The Planning Committee mainly listens to the three-year work reports of various institutions and departments. The participants generally affirmed the efforts made by the three Sam Yuk Secondary Schools and Yuen Long Sam Yuk Kindergarten in the past three years in spiritual, intellectual and physical aspects, and they were also particularly concerned about the next direction and strategy of saving soul. They hoped that even these gospel fields may continue to face all kinds of difficulties and challenges, but still experiencing the rich harvest from the Lord.
In the report of Director Fung Chui Chong of the Social Services Department, she specifically mentioned in the conclusion: Last year (2024), director Elder Benson Wong, suddenly passed away due to illness. At that time, all the co-workers in the department were deeply sorrow. However, the department co-workers and the successor Director Fung, together with deep affection and cherished memories, still took on the same task and tried their best to do all the ministries well. For this, she was full of gratitude. This sharing also moved many participants deeply.
After the Planning Committee successfully completed all the agendas, the Nominative Committee was still discussing in a closed-door meeting. The conference invited directors from various departments to take turns on the stage to briefly share their work priorities of the past three years.
After several hours of meetings, the Nominative Committee selected three new Administrative Officers in stages (see separate article for details), and produced the new Executive Committee, the Rules Committee, the Economic and Budget Committee, the Remuneration Evaluation Committee and the Audit Committee the list of members. Due to time constraints, the personnel arrangements of directors in various departments will be temporarily discussed and appointed by the new Executive committee at future meetings.
At the same time, the assembly discussed and passed bills related to remuneration and benefits, the 2026 Hong Kong-Macao Conference annual budget, and the awarding of diplomas and certificates. When reporting on the three-year report on the development item of Ventris road, the Elder Philip Wong, the Treasurer, also made a supplementary explanation on the current operation of Ventria Residence. He hoped that by increasing transparency, all sectors of society would have a clearer understanding of the actual situation and avoid unnecessary speculation. Some representatives also took this opportunity to express their concerns and hope that the Administrative Officers of the Local Conference will continue to play a good role in supervision and decision-making.
At the end of the meeting, the President, Pastor Heywood Cham, presented a thank-you note on behalf of the Triennial Session, offering his deepest respect and gratitude to God the Father, thanking Him for his gracious leadership and faithful supply in the past three years, so that the holy work can continue to advance.
